07 Feb 2005 - Baywalk, Manila Bay

Each time I love,
I become a traveller in a foreign land.
There is no end to this struggling
against the heat and cold,
the heart is seared,
burned by the sun,
wasted by betrayals, again and again,
made numb
by the mountain wind
or by the sudden storms

Bawat pagsinta'y
pangingibang-bayan.
Walang katapusan ang pakikipaghamok
sa init at lamig,
nadadarang ang puso,
wari'y napapaso sa init ng araw,
nadadala sa muli't muling pagkabigo,
wari'y pinamamanhid
ng hangin sa bundok
o biglang bagsak ng bagyo

The heart whispers...so listen carefully...

This evening it rained.
Again, I missed the warning signs:
Grey skies, strange heat in the air...
Kanina'y umulan.
Hindi ko na naman natukoy ang mga pananda:
ulap na madilim, alinsangan ng panahon...

Should you have a change of heart, my love,
I would be thankful for a sign.
Partings are never a matter of custom
and I do not want to be caught
in the storm again.

Sakaling magbago ng damdamin, sinta,
ipagpapasalamat ko ang mga pananda.
Hindi nakakasanayan ang paglisan
at ayaw ko na sa pagbuhos ng ulan
abutan akong walang kalaban-laban.

We journey each time we love.
We set forth towards open seas.
We climb mountain peaks.
We ride on hope,
we hang on to faith,
we journey each time we love.

Bawat pagsinta'y paglalakbay.
Paglalayag sa malawak na dagat.
Pag-akyat sa pinakatuktok ng bundok.
Sumasakay sa pag-asa,
kumakapit sa pananalig,
bawat pagsinta'y paglalakbay.
